FORM AND PRESENTATION :
Slow release tablet, pelliculed, yellow, round and flat.
Box of 4 blisters of 10 tablets.
COMPOSITION PER TABLET :
Valproïc acid (INN) 200mg
(As valproate sodic BP)
Excipients for one tablet.
EXCIPIENTS WITH KNOWN EFFECT :
Lactose.
PROPERTIES :
M-Valpro LP is used to treat general or partial epilepsy, epileptic crisis of minor epilepsy type.
INDICATIONS :
Adult and children : Treatment of general epilepsy or partial crisis with or without secondary generalization.
Children : Prevention of febrile convulsions when risk factor of recurrence are there.
DOSAGE :
Swallow tablets during meal.
Adult : 20 to 30mg/Kg per day, to be devided in 2 times.
Children: 30mg/Kg per day, to be devided in 2 times.
Start with a low dosage during 2 to 3 days, then increase slowly to get the efficient dosage.
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
Hypersensitivity to valproate.
Medical history of hepatitis (acute or chronic), hepatic porphyry.
Avoid treatment together with mefloquine.
INTERACTIONS :
Association with Carbamazepine, Lamotrigine, Phenobarbital, Carbipenemes, Felbamate, Topiramate, Phenytoïne is not recommended.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS:
Valproate should be used with caution during pregnancy or breast-feeding.
ADVERSE EFFECTS :
Possible digestive troubles, vertigo, sleepiness, headache.
