FORM AND PRESENTATION :
White crystal powder for injection.
Sealed 10ml flask.

COMPOSITION FOR ONE CAPSULE :
Benzylpenicillin (INN) 1,000,000 UI
(as Benzylpenicillin sodium BP)

PROPERTIES :
Bactericide antibiotic of the betalactam family.

INDICATIONS :
Infections caused by germs shown to be sensitive : respiratory, E.N.T and stomatology,
skin, kidney, uro-genital and gynecological, syphilis and prophylaxis of AAF relapses.

DOSAGE :
- Adults : 1 to 4 MIU/day by deep IM injection or slow IV injection, or in a drip.
- Children and infants : 50,000 to 100,000 MIU/kg/day by deep IM injection or slow IV injection, or in a drip.
- Newborn infants : 75,000 to 200,000 MIU/kg/day in a drip.

CONTRAINDICATIONS :
Allergy to betalactam antibiotics.

INTERACTIONS :
Not to be used with :
- allopurinol : increased risk of skin reactions
- cyclins : diminished bactericide effect of benzylpenicillin.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS :
If allergy symptoms occur, discontinue treatment and see a doctor.
Solvents used may be either water for injection, or a benzyl alcohol solution. However, the latter is the only solvent to be used in IM injections.
Made-up injections must not be kept for longer than 24 hours in cold storage.

ADVERSE EFFECTS :
Allergy symptoms.
Digestive disorders : nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
