FORM AND PRESENTATION :
White micro-crystalline powder for injectable preparation IV and IM.
Sealed vial of 10 ml. Solvent ampoule of 5 ml.

COMPOSITION FOR ONE VIAL :
Oxacillin (INN) 1g.
(as sodic oxacillin USP).
Solvent WFI
Excipients q.s 1 vial.

EXCIPIENTS WITH KNOWN EFFECT :
None.

PROPERTIES :
Bactericidal antibiotic of betalactamin family (group of hemi-synthetic penicillin M, resisting to penicillinase)
Active on staphylococcus producers of penicillinase or not with the exception of meti-R stock, streptococcus excepted D group.

INDICATIONS :
Infections due to sensitive bacteria.
Treatment of staphylococcus sensitives infections, with appearance in : respiratory, N.E.T, endocarditics, renal
and genito-urinary, bones septicemic and meningitis.
In dermatology : staphylococcus infections and / or sensitive streptococcus.
In postsurgery infections prophylaxis, neurosurgery, plastic surgery and rebuilding.

DOSAGE :
Once made up, the suspension must be used immediately.
IM injections have to be deep and IV in slow drip.
Adult, children and infant : 50 to 100 mg/kg each day in IV or IM.
Newborn : 25 to 100 mg/kg each day, by drip.
Postsurgery infections prophylaxis : 2g in IV, when anaesthesis begin, then 1g in IV each 2 hours for long lasting surgery.
Treatment should not exceed 48h.

CONTRAINDICATIONS :
Allergy to penicillin and cephalosporin.

INTERACTIONS :
Avoid any association because of interaction risk.
In the event of INR imbalance :
Many cases of increased activity of oral anticoagulants have been reported in patients receiving antibiotics.
The risk factors seem to be any marked infection or inflammation, as well as the patient’s age and general condition. In such circumstances, it is difficult to distinguish whether it is the infection or its treatment that causes the INR imbalance. However, some classes of antibiotics are more involved than others : this is especially the case for fluoroquinolones, macrolides, tetracyclines, cotrimoxazole and some  cephalosporins.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS :
Before any treatment, verify if there is allergy to penicillin and cephalosporin.
Serious kidney impairment.
Use under doctor control during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

ADVERSE EFFECTS :
Allergic accidents.
