M-Gentamicine - Injection 80mg

FORM AND PRESENTATION :
Clear colorless solution for injection in 2ml auto-breakable ampoule.

COMPOSITION FOR ONE INJECTION AMPOULE :
Gentamicine (INN)        80mg
(as gentamicin sulphate BP)

PROPERTIES :
Bactericidal antibiotic from aminoglycoside group, active against Escherichia coli, Shigella, Salmonella, Klebsilla, Campylobacter, meti-cillin-sensitive Staphylocus.

INDICATIONS :
Severe infections due to aerobic gram-negative bacili, especially in urinary tract infections.
Prophylaxis in abdominal surgery.
Prophylaxis in post-surgery in patients with a history of allergic reactions to any penicillin.

DOSAGE :
Adults:
Deep intra-muscular injections, 160mg everyday.
Prophylaxis in post-surgery :
160mg in a parenteral injection of 30 minutes, 30 minutes before surgery during 2 days.

Child and infant : 1 to 2mg/Kg/ each day in 2 or 3 injections (IM).

CONTRAINDICATIONS :
Allergy to aminoglycosides.
Severe renal impairment.
Pregnancy.

PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS :
Caution in patient with otologic impairment and in elder patient.

INTERACTIONS :
Never associate with other aminoglycoside, cefaloridine, polymyxine.

ADVERSE EFFECTS :
Toxic for kidney and auditory system, like any aminoglycoside, especially with high dosage or prolonged use.
Impairment kidney or association with other nephrotoxic or ototoxic treatment increase risk.
