FORM AND PRESENTATION :
White caplet shape tablet with a breakline.
Box of 10 tablet in a blister blister.
COMPOSITION PER TABLET :
Ciprofloxacin (INN) 500mg.
(as ciprofloxacin chlorydrate).
Excipients q.s. 1 tablet.
PROPERTIES :
Fluoroquinolone bactericidal antibiotic. Activity spectrum is larger than aminoglycosides or other quinolones. Ciprofloxacin is very active against Colibacillus, Klebsielles, Proteus, Salmonelles, Shigelles, Yersinia, Haemophilus, Neisseria, Campilobacter, Vibrio, Staphylocoques, Mycoplasma, Legionella.
INDICATIONS :
Adult : in genital and urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal, respiratory, skin and bones infections due to ciprofloxacin sensitive bacteria.
Children : generally not recommended except if necessary.
DOSAGE :
Swallow tablet with a meal.
Severe genital or urinary tract infection, gastrointestinal, respiratory, skin and bones infections : 1 to 3 tablets a day, taken in 2 to 3 time.
Simple genital or urinary tract infection : Half a tablet morning and evening.
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
Hypersensitivity to the product.
Pregnancy, breast feeding, children below 5 years.
INTERACTIONS :
Antacid, sucralfate, iron may lower absorption of ciprofloxacin.
Effect of oral anticoagulant and theophyllin is stronger if taken with ciprofloxacin.
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS :
Drink much water during treatment. Avoid exposure to sunlight.
Use with caution in patient with epilepsy. Stop treatment if tendonitis appear and call your prescriber.
ADVERSE EFFECTS :
Sometimes gastrointestinal reactions, skin, joints or muscular troubles.
